ASCII Info.

Hi
I like to know whats the exactly ASCII format
ADVANCED GET END OF DAY can read, ASCII looks
very confusing to me, some has comma, or just space
some has YEAR( YY or YYYY) and can ADV GET EOD
read ASCII forex data, Forex has four digit in the end
EUR= 1.2850 etc.

I have EQUIS DOWNLOADER , I try to convert METASTOCK
file to ASCII, but when I view the chart in ADV GET its
all blank.

I want to use VIAFOREX DOWNLOADER to collect
END OF DAY Forex data, That only provide ASCII data
I think VIAFOREX do not provide DEMO or Free trial

Please let me know how ADV GET works with ASCII

AdvancedGET EOD can read various ASCII formats, it all depends on how you set up the Properties of the Data Paths.
For example the data could be comma separated (the extension of the file in this case is usually *.csv)

in which case you would setup the Properties as in the following image



Or it could be tab delimited (*.txt) ie the fields are separated by spaces such as in the following example

2/1/1993 43.97 44.25 43.97 44.25 480500 0
2/2/1993 44.22 44.38 44.13 44.34 202800 0

in which case you would setup the Properties as in the next image. Note that in both example the path is C:\ but you can set it up to be a specific folder on your hard drive. You can also have both formats setup in the same or different directories.



The dates can be either short (YY) or long (YYYY) and in any order, all you need to do is set them up accordingly using the dropdown selectors.

BTW you also asked if GET EOD could read Forex data with 4 decimals. Following is a sample of an ASCII data file from a download of EUR A0-FX from eSignal (using Qcollector)

What is the format for 60 MIn chart

I know the format for EOD (in ascii format).

But how to give the data for 60 MIN chart. Some please explain with sample data. A Picture could prove useful

AdvancedGet EOD can read 60 min data only in the proprietary format provided though the eSignal Wizard (fka GetData). For information regarding the eSignal Wizard click here

The Advanced GET EOD program can only read Daily data in the ASCII format. It then uses the daily file to build Weekly and Monthly charts. It can not read 60 min ASCII files. The only 60 min data that can be used in the GET EOD program is eSignal Wizard data.
