  • Weekly & Monthly TJ Webs

    Hi:
A question for Advanced Get Staff:
    When do TJ's Webs update?
For example, I wanted to do my homework on the weekly and monthly charts and I like to use TJ's Webs. However, they are not recognizing that the weekly and monthly are completed and generating the new levels.

    What is up?
Should I wait until Sunday to add the new Web levels?
Do I have to wait till Monday?

    Tom, is that you?

Forgive me if I am incorrect... my memory isn't what it use to be... but I think if you are using the EOD you may have to wait for the first day of the new week or month to have the OHLC added to it before it triggers the new settings? (or that is how it use to be a long time ago) I use to use the "What If?" tool where you can make up a ficticious OHLC until the actual data comes in and it would suffice with a quicker trigger. I don't honestly know for a fact if the algrithym has been modified, or how it may be in the newer real-time eSignal platform? Personally, i tend to continue to use the previous settings, or draw horizontal trendlines, marking with text to identify them, and then will trigger the newer settings whenever they do come in. I am not always interested initially in a new setting, primarily because I focus more on longer term charts where the new information isn't quite as critical to get asap. Not sure if this helps, but this is my understanding of TJ's Web, or as best as I can remember on a Saturday morning with no coffee!!! Oh, yes, one more idea... id your data absolutely updated to include the Friday close in it... it probably doesn't matter, but it is worth mentioning? Take care, hope things are well with you.

PS - Do you live in Wyoming? We are planning to visit there first week of August. Take care, marc

      Weekly and Monthly Webs

      Marc:
Yes, my name is Tom, but I do not live in Wyoming.

Thank you for getting back to me and trying your best to answer my question. And, the question still remains, when do the Web levels "shift" or recognize it is a new week, month or day?

I have the real time version and I do not know how to use the "What If" feature.
I have used the review mode, but I am not sure what is the "What If" mode - please explain.

The "What If" tool is in the EOD version and is not available in either of the RT versions (stand-alone or integrated).
Essentially it allows one to create price bars in the future so as to experiment with possible scenarios (EW counts, XTL, indicators, etc.)

TJ's Web Levels will not shift to a new calculation until at least one new data bar is created for that new daily, week or month, or any other variable time frame.

As Alex explained, the "What If?" tool is an EOD version tool. This tool was developed because I kept bugging Tom Joseph for ways to confirm scenarios when we were testing the Advanced GET program in the very early days of development. This is also how the original "Training Mode" came about as a new tool.

I apologize for the earlier confusion and for getting you mixed up with someone else.

          sincerely, Marc
