  • GET Error message "Out of Memory"

I am running GET EOD and every so often I get this error message when I start GET up - "out of memory".

There are no other programs running and I have 256meg of RAM. In general GET runs fine 99% of the time. It seems to happen if I have recently run a search but I am not 100% sure.

Once I get this error the only way I can get the software to run is uninstall completely and reinstall then reboot etc. This is a real painfull process.

Does anybody else get this message and do you know how to fix it without reinstalling the software ?
    Regards

    Hi Philby,

What operating system are you running? You may also want to open the task manager (if you are running Win2k or Winxp, I think they have the tm) and look under the processes tab. Try to see which apps are using up a lot of memory usage. You may also have other apps running in the background aside from GET.exe that is causing you to have the memory error.

If you are running XP, you may also want to look at the event viewer. Click on Control panel/administrative tools/event viewer/application. XP does a good job of logging any windows error. Here you will see more details of the memory error. Win2k also has an event viewer but apparently it does not do as good a job as XP in logging windows errors.

There could be a number of things that may cause the memory error. Troubleshooting this may be a little tricky as it may not be the GET app that is the issue here but could be other processes running in the background.

Sorry I am not much of help but more information is needed. You may also send a detailed email to eSignal's email support at

    Thanks,

This could be related to your operating systems cache and the hard disk cache.

For instance I have 500 meg ram with 8 meg ram cache on the hard disk and then the operating system has its cache, usually automatically handled.

Whats your computer specs? what OS? how old? did you buy it new or second hand (you could have some dud memory chips)

I am running XP professional on a 800Mhtz PC with 256 meg ram.

Since posting the messages below the entire system has crashed. Seems GET is not only good at predicting the turning in the markets but also when the PC is about to spit the dummy.

Afraid to say the operating system is terminal - going to completely rebuild it from the ground up and add a new 80 gig drive while I am at it.

One more stunt like this an I am introducing the axe.

          PC Setup

If your front side bus is 800mhz then your system is newish

but if your processor speed is 800mhz, its time to use it as a doorstop and buy a new one

dont upgrade, just buy a new one, a nice P4 - 3.2 with 500 Meg ram would be good
