  • Are Forex prices quoted with Fractional Spreads?

Hello, I am new to Forex trading, and I had a question about how Forex prices are quoted in eSignal.

I know that some Forex brokers offer fractional spreads where they add an extra digit to the price.

    Does eSignal do that too?

    Thanks.

Most contributors/brokers report in 4 decimal places (1.0023). A few have started to report in 10th's of a PIP so you'll see 1.00235 (5 being 1/2 a pip).

We are still showing the composite symbol with 4 digits (full PIP's) but you can see 10th's of a PIP by using the
    broker-specific symbol
. As the popularity of this higher resolution increases, you'll see us make a switch and start showing the composite in 5 digits.

    Hope that helps.

thanks for the explanation ScottJ. I really appreciate that.

btw.......it is my understanding that there are no "Last" prices in Forex......only Bid/Ask prices.

If that is the case....then how does eSignal chart Forex data if there is no Last price?

      thanks again.

        No problem, happy to help.

        Another good question, btw.

You are right that our indicative forex pricing includes bid/ask updates only. So the data can be charted, we map the bid price to the last field.

        Thanks.
