  • ?track baskets without crashing?

I tried to use the new functionality of version 7.4 to cumulate the values of the 30 stocks that comprise the dow, which overwhelmed my computer (smaller numbers of stocks worked, however.)

Is there any work-around way to create a data chart of these values?

On 7.4 build 607, I didn't experience any crashes (2.4 GHz, 500 Mb Ram, WinXP) when pulling up the following symbol, however it did take a good amount of time to access the data. During that time, my PC did slow down. It may depend upon your resources available, and what Operating System is running.

    AA + AXP + BA + C + CAT + DD + DIS + EK + GE + GM + HD + HON + HPQ + IBM + INTC + IP + JNJ + JPM + KO + MCD + MMM + MO + MRK + MSFT + PG + SBC + T + UTX + WMT + XOM

    What are your system specs?

    Jay F.

I have a Sony VAIO "Pentium 3", running at 1GHz, with 256 Mb (non ECC)
      RAM, WinXP(home). I have an improved system on order - - a =
      refurbished
Delll "Pentium 4" running at 3.06 GHz, with 512MB PC800 ECC RDRAM.
Hopefully this system will surmount the primary problem of running the
calcuations - - but it would be infinitely better if the Dow "divisor"
could be addeed to the calucation at the same time as well.
work-arounds or software which would beter enable the calucation of
weighted/divisored baskets would be an immense joy=20

      thanks for responding

This can be done. To multiply a symbol by a factor of X, try this formula.

        X<sym> + ...

        Example:
