  • Bad Tick - Esignal/TS 2000i

    Hello,

I get bad ticks every day. But not eurex or xetra.
Only US stocks and commodities. 40 stocks/commodities
with two or three bad ticks every day. I thougt esignal is
one of the best real time feeds for US markets?
Is there something wrong with my connection to the global
    server?

    Who can help?

    Thanks

Could you give some examples of the bad ticks you are seeing? Pre and post market stocks are the most notorious time periods for out of range trades.

I'm unsure if you are asking about how to save a screenshot and/or how to post a picture, so I'll answer both. There are a few ways to obtain screenshots.

One method is already built into Windows. Using the PrintScrn button on your keyboard will save a snapshot of what's on your screen in the Windows Clipboard (a temporary storage area.) You can then open Windows' Paint application and Edit - Paste in the screenshot. From there, you can File - Save As, and then choose the File Type. I would suggest using GIF for screenshots.

Other methods include using software like Irfanview, SnagIt, or HyperSnap-DX.

In order to post a screenshot, the simplest method is to attach the jpg or gif to the post.
          Regards,

I don't see the same bad tick, however there could be a few reasons why. Could you PM (Private Message) me your user name, so I can investigate further?

Those INTC bad ticks are from pre/post market trading. This is a normal occurrence for all data providers as the exchange sends out that data. I would suggest either restricting the chart hours to not include the pre/post market times, or instead edit out the spikes in the data.

The KC spike is a different issue, so please do send me your user name.

                    Thanks,
                    Jay

With Alex's help, here is what we came up with...

This issue is a result of the difference with the way eSignal (remote database) and TradeStation (local database) stores and presents its data. As real-time trades come in, TradeStation is storing the data to the hard-drive. If a bad tick comes through (most often from the exchange,) and subsquently eSignal sends out a correction, TradeStation has no way to automatically go back and make the correction. Alex mentioned that Uniserver has a way to download a refresh to get rid of any spikes in the data.

                          I hope the information helps.
                          Regards,
                          Jay F.

You truly want to tell me that this has something to do with
pre and post trading? There must be an other reason.
And that uniserver has this possibility is not the point.
