Why - % Institutional Owership > 100%

I notice that the value for "Inst Owned %" in Quote tables is greater than 100% in some cases. Specifically, I see the IWM and SMH today are showing 129% and 112% respectively.

How can this be? What makes up that value that comes on your feed?

Looks like short selling is the most likely reason the % can exceed 100. Quite a few references if you do a Google search, like this one. While not easy to find many sources for this data, we show similar 100%+ figures to Nasdaq.com.
