Open price discrepancy between daily & interval charts

The open (this applies to the close as well) on a daily interval chart does not match the open of an interval chart (say 5 minute) both with the default dynamic time template or even the 24 hour time template.

Shouldn't these be exactly the same?

On the screenshot it's not clear which bar your cursor is on. But looking that the Cursor window it looks like it set on the midnight or 0:00 bar. Since E-Mini S&P starts the trading day at 3:30 pm CST. To compare the opeing price of the daily chart with the intraday you would need to look at the intraday bar for that time frame.

Yes, it is pointing at midnight (the stat point of the black arrow).

I was unaware that a new trading day started at 16:30 of the prior day.

That makes a difference in how I code.
