  • Forex daily close confusion

    Hi,

    I'm using 11.2.2399.1183 64-bit.

I'm trying to work out what time the eSignal forex symbol EUR A0-FX closes on the daily chart.

I am in UK and right now the time zone is GMT+1 also known as BST. If I take 17-Aug-2011 as an example the closing price is 1.44231. If I tick the "Use Settlement price as Close" box, then the closing price on the D chart is 1.44260.

Now, I'm trying to match these up with an intraday chart. So I go to an M15 chart and look for those prices but I can't find them. So I have two questions

    1) What time (and timezone) does the eSignal daily forex chart close
    2) What does the "Use Settlement price as close" checkbox do in the forex market?

    Thanks
    Mark.

If I go to this page http://kb.esignal.com/article.aspx?article=1422&p=1 it tells me that the forex daily close is 21:50 GMT, and if the "Use settlement Price as close" is check then it's 22:00 GMT. I am still getting inconsistencies between the daily closes and the intraday charts.

Attached is my data over the last week on two markets, are there tow different feeds for daily and intraday prices for forex? Why don't the prices match up?

        mallison,

        1) What time (and timezone) does the eSignal daily forex chart close

During Daylight Saving Time the daily charts close at 2:00 PM (1400) and 3:00 PM (1500) during Pacific Standard Time.

        2) What does the "Use Settlement price as close" checkbox do in the forex market?
Using the settlement price as close adds consistency to the closing price across all the history servers. Because each of the history servers saves the OHLC independently the down to the second save could vary slightly from server to server. At the request of clients the Final Settlement was added to eliminate the variations.
