does anyone know where to get a list of international esignal symbols?

i have created a list for US however all the international symbols in esignal have different extensions.

does anyone know or have a list for the following exchanges:

    Germany XETRA
    French CAC40
    Japanese Nikkei 225
    Hong kong Hang Seng
    Swiss SSMI
    Dutch AEX

You can find the symbols in an exchange by using the Symbol Search within the application [for help on this feature see this article for version 10.6 or this article for version 11] or the Symbol Lookup and searching in either one by Exchange Name

      Hi

      Thanks for the reply.

This is the same suggestion made by eSignal support. They claim they do not know the symbol lists of their own feed.

How as a data feed provider, they do NOT know what symbols are included in their feed?

If Yes, esignal CAN provide a list of instruments.

If Not, I don't believe as a company they do NOT know.

I have had feed for a few month and have hardly used it due to the effort required to create the watchlists.

I am looking to esignal feed with a 3rd party software. i am aiming to run scan and searches through large watchlists.

this is a very slow and time intensive method. it not possible to add 1000's instruments to a watchlist.

I am looking to a solution like metastock symbol list.

Has anyone already created a list of symbols for the following exchanges:

      Germany XETRA
      French CAC40
      Japanese Nikkei 225
      Hong kong Hang Seng
      Swiss SSMI
      Dutch AEX
      Milan exchange
      Australian,
      Singapore,

I cant be the first person to ask for exchange watch list symbols.

No one at Esignal seem to want to find a solution. Very poor service. They expect me to spend hours to create watch lists. i am close to canceling.

apart from go to symbol search and spend tons of time creating standard exchange watchlists.

We hope to provide Index constituents in the future but we simply don't maintain those now nor are they "free" as many consumers expect. We are working on the contractual rights to provide these constituents but that will take some time.

All I can suggest is to use the Index sources' website to get the list and then add our suffix in Excel via a simple cell merge. Then, copy the results into a watchlist. That should work for the vast majority of symbols as we try to keep our symbol format as close to exchange native as we can.

        Hope that helps.

        Thanks.

          Thanks for the information. Scott.

After speaking to the 5th person at eSignal Support, you have given me a good answer.

If it a contractual rights issue, i can accept that answer.

I will try the the Excel cell merge solution.

I want to add that I feel your pain! It's flat out not very easy to find/grab these lists!!

I'm exploring some options we may have to get at least the popular indices for redistribution. Yahoo lists the constituents on quite a few indices but clearly indicate that it's for non-commercial use only, hence why we (eSignal) can't simply grab it and give to customers. That sort of language is very common on all these sites. That said, all these restrictions put us in an awkward place when trying to meet customer's expectations and somewhat explains why the staff wasn't more helpful in your eyes.

From an individual's standpoint, there doesn't appear to be any language precluding you from grabbing the list and using it for your personal use.

Let's take the CAC 40 as an example. If you grabbed the list from Yahoo, copied and "pasted special - text format" into Excel, then kept only the symbol column, you could then do a simple find and replace removing the .PA and replacing it with our code -EEB.

In theory, the list would then look like this:

            AC-EEB
            ACA-EEB
            AI-EEB
            ALO-EEB
            ALU-EEB
            BN-EEB
            BNP-EEB
            CA-EEB
            CAP-EEB
            CS-EEB
            DG-EEB
            EAD-EEB
            EDF-EEB
            EI-EEB
            EN-EEB
            FP-EEB
            FTE-EEB
            GLE-EEB
            GSZ-EEB
            KN-EEB
            LG-EEB
            MC-EEB
            ML-EEB
            MT-EEB
            OR-EEB
            PP-EEB
            PUB-EEB
            RI-EEB
            RNO-EEB
            SAN-EEB
            SEV-EEB
            SGO-EEB
            STM-EEB
            SU-EEB
            TEC-EEB
            UG-EEB
            UL-EEB
            VIE-EEB
            VIV-EEB
            VK-EEB

Copy that to a quote window and that's it, in theory of course

On a related note, we've been making progress as of late to get constituents into eSignal 11.4 The functionality should be available as will hundreds of lists we've procured thus far. We still need to source some of the more popular indices to make this a complete offering and we're certainly trying to do that in the coming weeks/months.

                Thanks.
