  • Attn: eSignal Support - Re: The New VIX

Will the new VIX data still be available under the existing symbol ($VIX) and/or will there be any change?

Wll appreciate a response before market open on 09/22/03.

Dear Heather or anyone in eSignal Support,

All I wanted to confirm with eSignal Support was, whether $VIX will continue to exist or not. And if not then what will be the new symbolin its place?

This is not addressed in the thread you directed me to. That thread discusses different aspects of the new methodology and new basis of calculation of the VIX.

So once again, please confirm if $VIX will continue to exist or not.

Thank you and will once more appreciate an answer before market open on 09/22/03.

I'm Not From Esigna nor I am a moderator or part of support. I apologize to take the liberty to answer at sajaldeyin question.

Heather suggestion was correct. Consequently, in order to have the most detailed informations iI advise to follow the below link.

KEY: You are not obliged to read all the PDF paper - though for a $VIX user is , I should say , a must- but just the main vital info . You can find other info in the exchange site.

It's Monday 22/9, and no data for $VXO yet. Is everything on track?

Old and New VIX cannot work during close stocks exchanges. therefore cannot show anithing auntil Stocks starts the Auction.

                Fabrizo,

If this is true, why can I see the history of $VIX under $VIX during market close??

In my opinion, this history should now be shown under $VXO.

                Edo.

P.S. just to make sure we're talking about the same thing here: I was referring to daily history.

                    Hello all,

We are researching why there was no historical data moved over for $VXO. As far as why it is not updating yet, $VIX typically started updating at 9:45am EST, and we haven't reached that time yet.

More to follow as we have it.
                    Regards,

$VXO is not updating as it should be. We are investigating this as well.

Not that it helps any, but all other data vendors we checked are not updating on $VXO either. We suspect there's something going on at the exchange end.
                        Regards,
                        Jay F.

You are and were perfectly right. I stepped out and thinking about my post I thought the same.
But know that I'm back I can see that the exchanges actually do not "disseminate" data.....

As many of you have likely seen already, the $VXO is updating as expected. The daily data will be imported for these symbols within the next few days. Please be aware that the recalculated CBOE data is Close data only.
