intraday NAV's for ETF's

I trade ETF's, all of which are available on eSignal.

The problem is that when I have to use the ETF's equivalnet Intraday NAV for tick-by-tick trading for entry positions I sometimes find the associated NAV and sometimes I cannot find it.

Does eSignal carry all the Intraday Nav's of all the ETF's it carries?

I know that some branded ETFs have NAV symbols associated with their listed symbols. For instance, Barclay's iShares have an Amex trading symbol and a symbol for the Underlying Trading Value (e.g., iShares S&P 500 Index Fund: IVV Amex, NNV utv.)

The other brands, I don't know.

What is interesting about the iShares is the liquidity issue. I've wondered how the more "exotic" iShares would trade via a big order, since they only seem to show maybe 50,000 shares traded. I've found out that big orders can trade at NAV, or very, very close to NAV, as the specialist must fill the order, and that specialist then goes to the market to actually buy (or sell) all the stocks that make up that basket. The specialist then tenders those shares to Barclays. The specialist is responsible for his inventory. The volume (or seeming lack thereof) with these shares is not indicitive of true volume, as it is a look-through...meaning that the volume passes through the iShare to the basket of stocks that make up the underlying.
I know last week a $2 Billion trade went through their EAFE Index Fund (EFA, EFV utv) and traded (in blocks, per order) pretty much at NAV.
Gotta say that's quite amazing...particularly anyone who has experience trading stock with Amex.

I can tell you that eSignal does carry a number of NAV's for certain ETF's and not for others. I can't figure out the reason and was curious which ones they carried and why.

I trade ETF's daily and use their respective NAV's - if available to find good entry and exit ponts. Example:

DVY - uses DJJ for its NAV - both are available on eSignal
XLB - uses BXV for its NAV - both are available on eSignal
XLE - uses EXX for its NAV and it is not available on eSignal?

DVY= iShares Dow Jones Selected Dividend
XLB= Materials Select Sector SPDR
XLE=Energy Select Sector SPDR

Every ETF has a NAV and eSignal does carry some of them. The question is why only some or where can I find a list of available NAv's?

Thanks for the post. To the best of my knowledge, the NAV is defined and calculated by dividing a fund's (or in this case an ETF) total net assets by its number of shares outstanding. The NAV is calculated by the trust for these symbols and broadcast at the end of each day, which we do not carry at this time. The LAST price is not the NAV, although it could coincidentally match it on any particular day.

I believe that the indices that we are comparing may follow the official NAV, which is why they are updated intraday. I checked with Reuters regarding $EXX and they were unable to resolve the symbol as well. Please let me know if you have any questions.
