  • Why include "settlement prices" in RT data?

Especially for those traders who reply on indicators derived from the RT data, eSig's inclusion of "settlement prices" distorts indicators!!

Settlement Price: The average price at which a contract trades, calculated for both the open and the close of each trading day. Settlement prices are necessary for determining whether gains or losses were made on a contract held during a certain time period. Settlement prices are also required to determine if an investor's margin account requires a margin call for every day a particular security is held.

There should be a checkbox in Data Manager allowing users to include or exclude settlement prices. (Since I use 3rd party charting software, I would hope that such an option would be included at the Data Manager level, and not just in the eSig charting app).

    Thanks,

    Saxon,

The primary function of the Data Manager is to manage the flow of data to the GUI and permission the user to the database. The option to control the display of the data has been implemented into eSignal front-end through the use of Time Templates. If for any reason, the third party charting application that you're using does not allow for an end user to control the display, you may want to forward that to them as a possible suggestion to remedy the situation. Within eSignal, a user can choose to filter out settlement prices by structuring a Time Template to limit the display to the desired hours.
