  • htmlayout.dll

Each time I try to run eSignal McAfee Virus scan removes htmlayout.dll and eSgnal will not run.

I have removed eSignal completely several times, deleted all folders and registry entries and installed from scratch.

McAfee thinks the file is a Trojan.

I cannot get Esignal to run. Have uninstalled and upgraded, but still get E/M "HTMLLayout.dll was not found" Please advise. Thank you.

Lowrider, I'm having the same problem.Any idea why McAfee thinks it's a trojan now but didn't think so yesterday? Have you figured out how to work around it?

        htmlayout

        dlanpher,

McAfee must have updated the DATS yesterday and htmlayout was flagged.

I've tried everything I can think of to get around it, no luck yet.

To get around it temporarily, Ive removed McAfee and downloaded AVG Free from download.com.

I have submitted this problem to McAfee. They say it can take days for their developers to research it and remove the "offending" component from their virus protection. (HTMLayout.dll). In the meantime I disabled McAfee, and reinstalled esignal and it is working now.

                HTMLLayout.dll

We also use Mcafee. After 3 very long "chats" with Mcafee, this solved our problem on 2 computers, un-Install Esignal, then downloaded and re-install Esignal.

                  to Buckley 2:
Did McAfee remove HTMLayout.dll from their list of Trojans? Thanks.

                    htmlayout.dll

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling esignal multiple times. McAfee would remove htmlayout.dll during the installation and esignal would not run.

                        repair

Don't know if this will work for all but ...

I turned off the McAfee firewall, downloaded 10.5, installed with the repair option, then turned the firewall back on and it eSignal runs fine.

I am running "McAfee VirusScan Plus Firewall and AntiSpyware" and encountered the same problem as others here. You may run a different version but it likely has the same or similar features.

My solution: I turned off "Active Protection". McAfee describes Active Protection as:
Active Protection provides real-time defense against new and emerging threats by connecting to McAfee's Online Threat Intelligence community to identify and stop suspected viruses, Trojans, and other potentially unwanted programs on your PC.
Open the Security Center, click on "Computer & files", then select "Advanced" in the "SystemGuards protection is enabled" box. A new window will open, here select the "Active Protection" link in the left panel, and finally UNcheck the box to the left of "Turn on Active Protection". Click OK then exit the "Security Center".

Now you can repair or reinstall eSignal without issues.

The above doesn't stop McAfee from doing it's job. As I understand it, it just doesn't check with a list they try to keep current for emerging threats in real time.

Before that I tried by repairing and clean installs but as soon as I tried to run eSignal again it blocked it as stated below. The above solution has worked fine as will installing a different virus protection software.

                            notice to Scott @ eSignal

                            Scott,

I got an email response from McAfee asking for more information so they can look into the problem. I forwarded that email to you, thinking that it might be better for eSignal to communicate with McAfee on this issue rather than me.

If you didn't get the email can you please let me know? Thanks.

                            Doug Lanpher

I did get your email and have forwarded it to our Product people to handle. They'll likely do so tomorrow.

                              Thanks for the information.
