Running esignal as admin or non-admin

Hi there,

is there any recommendation as to run esignal or other "important" software as adim or non-admin in vista?

Admin-Esignal does not recognize time templates created under limited privileges for instance, same goes for pages created under admin and not being displayed as a limited user.

eSignal should be run in Admin mode to ensure that the associated files (Data Manager) are launched. Here’s a good aritcle the discusses different scenarios for running applications with Administrative privileges (Scenerio2 best describe eSignal).

Vista much like Windows XP creates a directory for each user. But Vista takes it one step further with the Virtual Store. In XP applications are saved and run from the Primary Root Drive. Each user can then access the application make changes and save it.
In Vista when users launch an application it runs in a virtual environment to protect the application and the operating system. Any changes made during the session are saved in the individual user’s virtual store. So a Time Template created under on account would not be visible to other account. In the article mentioned above it also discusses that not all Admin accounts have Administrative privileges.

If you know the name of the two accounts your working with this should be pretty easy.

Assuming that you're logged in with the non-admin account you can click the Vista Start--> In the Start Search window type %userprofile%\appdata\local\VirturalStore\Program Files\eSignal

Within this directory you'll find the Time Template.xml file, highlight, Right Click and copy. Next Navigate to the C:\Users\appdata\local\VirturalStore\Program Files\eSignal Directory and right click paste in the directory.

Now there is one other item that you'll have to be aware of and that is hidden files and folders. If when navigating to any of the directories you get a Windows Cannot find C:\Users\... message the mostly cause is that the System Files are hidden.

To unhide this files and folders do the following.

From the Local Disk C:\ Directory Click on Organize=>Folder and Search Options=>




Click on the View Tab and the add the radio button to the left of Show Hidden Files and Folders in the Advanced Setting Window.
