Why is "Save" grayed out?

The "Save" option on the "File" menu is grayed out and the Cntrl S option to save a chart does not work. Is there a way to turn that on? The business of "Save As" and then answer the question "Do you want to ..." (that comes up on another screen) is a real bother.

Save is grayed out when using Pages because these do not make use of individual windows/files like Layouts [in which case Save is enabled]. For the differences between Pages and Layouts you may want to read this article in the eSignal KnowledgeBase
