Strange lockup today.

I use esignal with many detached windows and three attached. Today, the three attached graphics froze but the detached ones continued to work fine. I could pull down menu items but nothing worked. I had to restart.

This with current 10 version. I have 11 but it was not running although it had been on before market open.

I trade the e-minis only. At exactly 9:30 when the market opens, esignal locks up and totally freezes the charts. It also freezes during the day when the transaction rate gets high.

This has been going on for months. I know two other traders who have the same problem during busy times.

Esignal has no answer for it. Does anyone else have similar problems?

I do have a partial fix for your problem with freezing on high tick rate. The problem I wrote about is that this was not a tick rate thing, some sort of software stall. I pestered eSignal long enough to find out that their graphic engine is of old technology and it does not take advantage of the modern graphics capabilities in the PC. So when the tick rate goes too high it gets behind. Their new version fixes this in theory.

But for now, it helps a lot to get a much faster computer. I got one with Intel i7-860 CPU (4 core) in an ASUS motherboard (Intel motherboards work too) that allows it to clock up to 3.3 GHz. I also have 8 Gbyte ram at 1600 MHz max clock. I have two Radeon 4600 series display cards but that does not help this version of eSignal.

I upped my DSL to 7 MBit/Sec. eSignal can still hang up on very fast tick rate. It did during the flash crash we had a while back.

It did this again. The main window was locked up but I could move it. All detached windows worked normally and were updating. When I typed in a new symbol, the main window resumed functioning. This after about 5 minutes. I was running the 11 demo at the same time.
