  • Sigtools Freezes Excel

    Hello Fellow Members,

I have a rather messy problem with sigtools and excel.

Each time I click on either DDE MatrixFill or DDE Hot Excel freezes.

I look at a few threads that had similar problems and there were suggestion about going www. fintools.com for an updated version of sigtools. Unfortunately, it looks like they have stopped supporting sigtools as its no longer available.

Can anyone thats had similar issues with sigtools help me resolve this.

I'm running Excel 2007 on XP

    Cheers

    Carlton

    Carlton,

There could be a couple of things going on here, I recall troubleshooting this a couple of times and each time it was something different. The most common fix was to do a Microsoft Office Repair. In Excel 2007 it's called Microsoft Office Diagnostics (Excel Options-->Resources-->Microsoft Diagnostics). Most cases this will fix the issues with the Macros.

Let us know if this helps, if not I can email you the Sigtools.xla file.

I have this same problem since I've upgraded my workstation.
      Previously I was running
      eSignal 10.6
      Windows XP
      Office 2003
Everything was fine. Excel's displayed the real time data perfectly.
But when this setup became too slow, I've got a new computer.
      Now I'm running
      eSignal 10.6
      Windows 7, 64 bit
      Office 2007
Everytime I try to run SigTools, Excel freezes.
The Office Diagnostics tool did not help at all.
I've been using Excel with eSignal feed a lot. And now it doesn't work anymore.

I hope you can help me with this.

Have you attempted to run a repair on the worksheet you are using in Excel? If you have not yet done this I would recommend it. Also, does it work if you start a new worksheet or does this freeze as well?
        Thank you,
        Eric O.

          Thank you for your reply.
          The file isn't corrupted.
And it freezes in new worksheets as well.

Is the Excel that you are running 64bit as well? We are trying to duplicate your set up here.
            Thank you,

              Hello.
              I can't say that Excel 2007 is 64bit. I do think not.
Before I was running Excel 2003 on my Windows 7 64bit. And this crashed too.
I've browsed the Microsoft Technet forums. And the moderators said that Excel 2003 or 2007 should run on Windows 7 64bit without problem.

That is correct Excel 2003 and 2007 both run on Windows 7 64bit just fine. Where you start to see an issue is with DDE Linking. This is no longer supported by Microsoft and we have seen instances where this no longer operates in Excel 2007. This was the main the reason behind us developing QLink which uses RTD rather than DDE. If it is freezing right away, the only things I can suggest for DDE are a repair of the worksheet itself or a repair install of the Excel program.
                Thank you,
                Eric O.

I'll have to rewrite my spreadsheets then. No biggie.
                  Thanks for your help.
