  • Trendline Alarms

    Hi All,

I did a comprehensive forum search on this topic, and while I see a couple threads addressing this in the past, to the best of my knowledge none of them stated the existence of a working solution.

Does anyone know the latest on this? One of the threads said that 7.7 would have this, but does it?

I can't believe with all the bells and whistles in ESignal that something as simple as setting an alarm on a trendine break does not exist. I know of other trading platforms with alot less bells and whistles that support this.

If anyone knows of any EFS solutions or thirdparty solutions for this, I'm game. Thanks.

    Regards,

    Scott

    scottinfinity,

Here is a link to a trend line efs that rmclean put together.

    http://forum.esignalcentral.com/show...=&postid=39120

One of the nice things about efs is that you can code it to do just about anything. In my opinion, rmclean did a fantastic job on this efs.

Let me know if this works for you. In addition, please provide feedback as to what you like in it and do not like in the code.

      Hi Steve,

Thanks for your post and sending the link to rmclean's efs file. I have downloaded it and will give it a try. I'll let you know how it works once I've had time to play with it. Thanks again.

      Regards,

      Scott

        Hi Steve,

I downloaded the EFS code and took a look at it. It looks great but I can't get it to work in my charts. I have loaded the EFS code into my chart via Right Click --> Formulas --> Downloads.

I see it load up fine, and I can go under 'Edit Studies' and edit the parameters. If I change the drawn line type to 'Ray', and then I draw a 'Ray' on my chart, is that it? I can't really tell if it is working or not.

For example, I can't tell which of my drawn lines, if any, this piece of EFS code is binding to or working with regards to.

Any help would be much appreciated!

        Thanks.

        Regards,

        Scott

          Scott,

I downloaded similar to yourself, then chose the ray, then in addition, changed the thickness to 3 (this makes no difference in the efs function, I just like thicker lines).

If you notice in the selections, the price magnet is on. This means all you have to be is above where you want the line, it will go to the closest value of that bar (like it is magnetized).

Now, to draw the line, one single mouse click above one bar, then move the mouse to another bar and single mouse click above that bar. A line should draw from the highs of those bars.

To reset, reload the efs and repeat.

FWIW, I just wanted to add that as an aid in selecting the correct bar, turn on Cursor Tracking. This results in the cursor having crosshairs which will assist you in lining up with the desired bar

              Scott,

I put together an efs at this link http://forum.esignal.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=54260 which allows you to draw trendlines and alarms on a trendine break. The instructions for use are at this link as well as within the efs. I hope this is helpful.
