  • Server authentication and DUAL WAN support

I am building a router with failover redundancy for transparent operation using two WAN links. I need to know how your servers authenticate to accomplich this. Do you use MAC address authentication?

We all know that simply trying to log in from another address is not a transparent operation.

Can you give me any other information i need to know here or can you give me a contact of someone in support who is knowledgible in this area?

Are any other esignal users interested in load balancing two internet connections like an ADSL and Cable conection with transparent failover should one of the conections go down so that 100% uptime of incoming data is maintained?

    theperm2,

By building a redundant WAN link, eSignal will still note the change in a failover scenario with the original IP Address in mind and deny the connection to the second WAN link. eSignal perceives this as a concurrent connection under the same account although the WAN failover executed ok. eSignal is not compatible with an end user, load-balancing protocol.

Are you saying it can't be done and that i'm wasting my time?

There has to be away with some advanced routing. I spoke with one company in the US that have a CISCO router doing it or so they say.

If esignal servers dont see a change in IP address then it could be possible. Im working with a company here to make this possible. It will be a custom solution as most "end user" routers wont be up to it.

Thanks for your inquiries on this, and the reply. To the best of our knowledge (including our network engineers,) Dual WAN Load Balancing will not work with eSignal. If you find a custom solution around this, then great! Just know that it isn't something we can endorse or support. If you do find something that does work, please feel free to let us know, and we can research further into that solution to provide that info. to other community members or eSignal users who have a similar requirement.
