  • eSignal 7.x Email Alerts incompatible with ISPs like Verizon

eSignal 7.x can't be used to send Email Alerts via ISPs, like Verizon, that require a username and password when sending email (SMTP Host authentication).

This is because there is no place to specify this on eSignal's Email Alert Settings. There should be settings indicating the SMTP Host requires authentication and a place to enter the username and password.

eSignal should have settings for this like Outlook Express and Netscape do - see attached image.

I confirmed this with eSignal support.

If you're having problems with this as I did, email them at ideas @ esignal.com (remove spaces) and tell them to add support for this.

Microsoft's MSN Internet Service also uses SMTP Host authentication

Email Alerts should (but do not) work with Microsoft's MSN Internet Service (their pay service, not the free Hotmail).

This is because MSN's SMTP Hosts require authentication (a username and password) when sending email, like Verizon's.

    But, eSignal doesn't support this...
