I understand OHLC pricing of stocks on the American exchanges, they represent the official stock mkt hours for instance EST 9:30am - 4:00pm. I will see the OHLC open as the open price on the 9:30am bar, the OHLC close as the close price on the 4:00pm bar and somewhere in between those bars I will see a high equal to the OHLC high and a low that matches the OHLC low.
I cannot reconcile that same pattern to the GBP. I looked at their likely normal market time 3am-11am EST and other times as well.
Right now it is 1am, their market is not open, the Open price is changing to reflect real mkt trades. The posted OHLC open for the day is 1.9233, posted OHLC high is 1.9241 and posted OHLC low is 1.9199.
EST On 5 minute bars matching day's OHLC:
Close is live with current 5 minute bar
The highs 1.9241 at 15:55, 16:05, 16:10, 18:20 all on 12/23/2004
The Open 1.9233 at 4:05, 15:40, on 12/23/04
The Low 1.9199 was violated many times about 20:00 on 12/23/04 and again prior from 00:00 through 2:30
In fact on a 60 min chart there are a max of 4 consecutive bars that stayed above the Low and none had a low matching the daily low.
Can someone please explain how the OHLC is supposed to correlate to an international currency?
Thanks
