  • dde Link problems

When I open a spreadsheet with dde links to WinRos, instead of updating the links in the spreadsheet, the cells say "#No Data.,". I see that all the symbols have been loaded in the eSignal Data manager but that data is not being passed through to the spreadsheet (excel XP). If I open the spreadsheet on my laptop or my old desktop, the updates are almost instantaneous

All three computers run Windows XP Pro with the fire-wall turned off.
All three computers run Excel XP with the macro security turned to Low
All three computers run E-Signal 7.8.

My laptop and old desktop have been working for almost 2 years without a problem. My new desktop is an AMD Athlon™ 64 3200+ Processor. My old desktop was an Intel Pentium 4

So far I have spent 3 hours on e-signals tech support line and they are unable to find out what the problem is.

have a new hard drive that I installed windows xp-pro on, excel xp and e-signal 7.8 and I am still having these problems, I tried it again with windows xp-pro, excel xp and e-signal 7.6 and windows xp-pro, excel xp and e-signal 7.4 with the same results. This is getting very frustrating

    Please help

    I have a similar problem.

With my old P3-866... I could load the excel spreadsheet just fine. All the components of the NDX came thru nicely updated.

Ever since I upgraded to an Athlon 64-3000, I've not been able to have the same success. Now only 25% of the quotes come thru while the others show No Data or some failure.

Anyone at Esignal know what the problem is?

      dde Link Problems

I have spent WAY too much time on this problem. I contacted the vendor who wrote the SigTools and worked with a Tech Support Guy at e-signal. All of them say that dde is old technology and that I need to go to Microsoft for support, granted they will not give me the password for the macros so I can apply any fix to the macros.

Basically, if it's old technology, why does eSignal still use it?

Now I have e-signal running on an old computer to run the dde links and I remote into that computer. It sucks but since no one can fix this problem and they keep passing the buck what else can I do?

I'm running XPPro with Excel 2002 sp3 (is that Excel XP?) and eSignal 7.8 and DDE is working smoothly and I can get most of the prices that I want. The only prices that I can't get are high and low for $add and $tick. I'll post that query in another thread through.

I'm not sure how my settings differ from yours but feel free to ask me config questions and I'll let you know how my PCs are setup. (I actually also have XP Home edition running the same setup without a problem.) Firewalls are switched on.
