  • Problems with certain intervals

    Hi!

There´s a problem with using certain intervals (13min, for instance) in Advanced Charts.
An Advanced Chart using 13min interval and a time template comprehending regular market hours only, doesn´t refresh automatically at the open. You´ve to take the data manually once (with CTRL+OK), before it starts to refresh automatically.

Does anyone have a clue how to solve this problem?

    Thx

Is this with a particular symbol or exchange or is it across the board?
Also what version/build of the software are you running?

      Hi Alex

The problems occurs always when using certain, probably more uncommon intervals, no matter which symbol.

      I use 7.2 (Build 544)!

      Thx

This FAQ may or may not apply. We have seen a wide spectrum of issues arise based on Omega Global Server turning OFF the databasing routines of the eSignal application.

If you have never installed Tradestation on your system, and the problem continues, then please let us know.

          Thx!

I never had the Tradestation or other Omega products running on my system!

I had a 13 min chart of $INDU (9:30-16:00 Time Template) open before market started and it seems to be updating properly without the need to refresh as you can see in the attached image.
The values of the OHLC can be seen at the bottom of the chart.
This is on build 566 BTW.

              Very mysterious

I´d to update the futures manually, again!

                Swingie,

Since this is a rather unusual problem I have a whole slew of questions for you.

                - What type of connection to the net do you have (DSL, Cable, Dial-up, something else?)
                - What Operating System are you running (Win98, Win2k, WinXP?)
                - Do you have any firewall or proxy server between your system and the Internet?
                - Has this always been happening to you with eSignal, or has it been working and just started this problem recently? If it just started, was there any software or hardware installed prior to the problem occurring?
                - What other software do you have running?
                Regards,
                Jay F.

I use 13 minute charts regularly...and I haven't had an issue. There was a bug a LONG time ago that was similar to what you are describing, but you say you are running a fairly recent release.

                  Mysterious indeed.

                    @Jay

                    1) DSL connection
                    2) Win2K
                    3) Router & Software firewall
                    4) I don´t know it any different
                    5) ESignal is running exclusively on this system (besides Point3)

I would suggest taking the route of taking out one possible factor at a time to determine the cause. Disable the firewall before the open, and check to see if the problem occurs still. If it still occurs, then I would try reinabling the firewall and removing the router temporarily (ie. plugging directly into the DSL modem.)

Those are the most likely suspects, so I would place my aim at those first.
                      Regards,
                      Jay F.

One other note... if you haven't already, you may want to uninstall and reinstall eSignal first. Here is some directions for a complete and clean uninstall/reinstall.
