specify the time sessions

In the time template, we can specify the session begin time and end time. However, for markets such as Hang Seng Index Futures, there are 2 sessions with 2 hours lunch time in between.

I hv previously requested to change the time template so we can take the 2hours break away. However, since this is not yet implemented, is it possible to have an EFS that will take this 2 hours break away? thx.

Hello Richard,

In the Advanced Charts, if there is no trading activity for an interval, the bar will be left out. Therefore the 2-hour break should already be removed from the bar data in your chart where there is no trading activity.

An EFS formula cannot remove bars from the chart, but it can look at the time stamps of the bars to prevent trade signals from firing during the specified time range. See Date and Time functions.

Thanks for posting the image, it helps illustrate the problem more clearly. Unfortunately, taking those bars out would require a modification to the software in order for the indicator to exclude those bars in its calculations. What could be posting those empty bars?

I don't see bars when the HSI is closed for lunch.

Hello David,

The're not empty bars. Zero-volume bars are excluded from the Advanced chart. The only way a bar can be created in the advanced chart is if the chart received trade data during those intervals. Please post a chart covering the same time frame in dynamic mode so we can see what you're viewing.
