  • 7.9 upgrade error 0x80040707

    Hi,

    I am getting error 0x80040707 with the following message: unable to load DBC.dll when trying to upgrade from 7.8.
    I downloaded 7.9 twice just to make sure the download didn't mess it up.
    I am running xp SP2.
    Please advice.

    Are you sure it's "dbc.dll" ? that isn't a file that we distirbute. The filename closest to that is "dbcapi.dll".

    Can you confirm the filename?

    Are you running any third party applications that use eSignal data? If the dbcapi.dll needs upgrading, and another application is running while doing the eSignal installation, or the Data Manager is running, then the installer can not update that DLL.

    Could you reboot, install 7.9 first thing after the reboot, then reboot again to see if this works?

      Hi Dion,

      I just run plain vanilla esignal nothing else.
      Tried several reboots.
      All a no go.

      I'll post the messages I am getting.

          Lo and behold!

          After I don't know how many reboots, regcleanings and 7.9 fresh downloads it run through just like that.

          Whatever it was I have no clue but I am back in business.
          Thanks again and if you come up with an explanation just for future reference I sure wouldn't mind.
