  • When will Esignal 8 arrive?

Just wondering if there is an ETA on esignal 8?

Last I heard they were aiming for Christmas. Is this still a possibility?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Runningbear,

eSignal 8.0 is still on target for the end of December / early January. This is release will be a beta release with a gold version being available in February. All of these timeframes are tentative depending on any unforeseen issues.

      Hi,

I was just wondering what improvements esignal 8 will bring. Several months ago I made a request to give the new esignal a facelift. I would like the interface to be more like the interface of the Advanced Get Software, which is alot more streamlined and modern.

Also, is it possible to have an undo button so we can easily undo any errors.

Hopefully it will work on windows XP because the last two updates did not work on my new laptop.

      Cheers,

      Kbw

Any word on whether 8.0 will include Put/Call Ratios?

And New High / New Low Indicators?

would bring a GUI upgrade, possibly with a work sheet type layout for managing multiple chart groups.

I hope this is still the case.

There was also mention of esignal being able to store data locally on disc.

I'm hoping we will see the implementation of the futuresource ticker plants soon as currently the holes in esignal data makes it useless for backtesting.

Can anyone tell us if these features are still part of esignal 8?

We're still a ways off before announcing the list of features that will be in eSignal 8, but I can say that some of the big items we've big working on the back end that will roll-out with the next version will be CID's (Corrections, Insertions and Deletions) and using the exchange time-stamps. This will dramatically reduce the number of bad ticks that appear in charts and synchronize all servers with the same time-stamp (once it is rolled out to all servers.)

Regarding an ETA, the current target is for sometime in Q1 of 2006, however I would estimate that we may be able to get a beta version out the door in Jan.

Disclaimer: The above is just an estimate based on the current project timetable. Changes to this may occur before the final release.
            Regards,
            Jay F.

              y-axis for the volume pane

A 'must' for eSignal 8 is a tool to adjust the y-axis for the
              volume pane.

When you have a volume spike, the bars that follow are shown only as specks. When you drag the volume scale up to expand the bars, the bars do expand but at the same time they go down below the bottom border of the volume pane and are no longer visible. If you could then put your pointer in the volume pane and drag the bars up as a whole in their expanded state, that would be fine. But that function is not available in the volume pane as it is in the price pane.

For those of us who analyse volume, eSignal's volume pane is
              a pain!!

Please consider this point for eSignal 8.

In the mean time see this thread for a solution that will help minimize the problem caused by volume spikes.

                  > Alexis

Thank you for the information. But I'm afraid it's more
                  than I can handle.
What worries me is that the patch is now one and a half
years old, and yet a permanent solution has still not been
applied. It seems that it would be so easy to provide the
same adjusment function that you have in the price pane
                  to the volume pane.
eSignal charts are so good in most areas, but this very
basic point remains a problem. Hard to figure.

PS I like your hanko, but can't figure out that kanji.

Actually it is not a patch but an EFS (eSignal Formula Script) that will plot the Volume and automatically "clip" ie limit the bars that exceed a user defined factor. The clipped bars will still display the correct volume in the Cursor Window.
In the image enclosed below you can see in the top pane the Volume plotted by the formula and in the bottom pane the Volume from Basic Studies
To run the formula first download it from the link I indicated and save it to any of the subfolders of Formulas. Then right click the chart, select Formulas, navigate to the subfolder in which you saved the efs and click it.

                      > Alexis
Guess I can handle that. Thank you for the directions.

However, I still think that an icon on the toolbar or
a drag function would be the best solution and in form
                      with other first class charts.
Do you see such a solution in eSignal 8 or soon there-
                      after?

The answer to that question will have to come from someone at eSignal.
