  • Point break amount on point break chart

I tried to change point break amount to
a value that is different from the deafult
    (3) on many charts, e. g. QQQQ, and
got error message saying invalid point
size. For example, change it to 0.5 or 1.
Looks like it must be at least 2.
Why such a restriction ? Is this a bug ?

The Point Break Amount setting in a 3 Line Break chart refers to the number of bar Highs or Lows that need to be breached for a reversal to take place. The minimum required is 2 ie the High of the current and previous bars. Note that a reversal bar will be plotted only once price closes above/below the defined Point Break Amount at the end of the interval

      Alexis,

OK, I had thought "Point Break Amount"
is the point values of a security. A better
name is probably "Bar Numbers To Reverse" or something like that.

      Thank you for your reply.

By the way, no one has responded to my
other post "Renko Chart bug ?" Can you
      take a look ?

        Three Line Break Chart

Can the three line break chart be posted in the bottom
of a regular chart, like RSI can ?

        Why

Because a three line break chart shows the TREND and it would be nice to see it in the bottom of a regular chart

No it cannot however you could plot as a non-price study the Point Break for Bar Chart study that JasonK developed and posted here which will replicate a 3 PB/LB chart on a bar chart
