Point and Figure question

I'm running a point and figure chart on ES #F, 100-tick chart, with box size = .25, 3 box reversal, Source is set to High/Low.

As I watch a column of X's, I can see a trade go a tick (or even 2 ticks) higher than the current top X, but the column of X's does not always extend. I've seen the same thing happen with a column of O's, in reverse.

Why is this?

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I'd already read that reply.

The column doesn't even update after the period has expired. (It doesn't take long to fill 100 ticks in day market). It's almost like it's waiting for a certain amount of volume before it's convinced that it's time to place a new X or O.

This doesn't happen often, but often enough. You have to watch a live market to see it happen.
