  • Interested in testing out our pilot tick history servers?

Due to the continued growth of market activity, we are testing a new pilot server configuration that only stores "trades" and no bid/ask history. This new server would handle any request for a tick chart, intraday chart or a time & sales window. Under this new configuration, we are storing up to 70% less information so the chart request can be processed that much faster.

This tick server experiment has no impact on the streaming real-time data we are sending so users will always continue to see updated bid and ask data as it's being received from our network. The change will only be seen when a request for historical intraday data is made (via a chart or T&S).

If you'd like to try this new server type, please contact Technical Support. We will add a special entitlement to your account (no additional fees) and the next time you log on/off, you'll be connected to the new pilot server.

Please take our poll so we can gather some feedback and feel free to post your questions on this thread.

    Thanks.

I use historical bid/ask data in my EFS routines so this new server won't work for me.

I like to see the bid/ask lines on my tick charts so this also won't work for me.

I review both trade and bid/ask history when I look at Time and Sales so I'd miss the bid/ask history.

I don't ever look at historical bid/ask data so getting faster charts sounds good to me.

Not sure what this means for me.

I was connected to the new server from today and
did find that the charts load faster, and there seemed
    to be no problems whatsoever.

Thank you for adding this function.

      History

It's great to hear that the tick charts are plotting faster, quick question though - will we be able to have more then 10 days worth of tick data with this new server/service, as that is what I really need.

      Thanks

The amount of history data remains unchanged at the moment. We are aiming to have extended history avaliable by year-end and that's part of the reason we're testing out this trade-only server type.

        Thanks.

Two questions before I test new server:
                (1) Does the data go back more then 120 days
because I need more data for my system that
uses 30 minute QID and QLD ?
                (2) Can I switch back and forth between new server
and the one containing the bid and ask ?
                Thanks in advance

Having been connected to this new server for one month I
have had just one problem. And yet I am only guessing that
it is related to this new connection as it has happened twice
and is a problem that I have never had before.

                  Using 8.0 I had 1 minute, 5 minute and 10T Advanced Charts
open for JGB10 1!-TPX and NI225 1!-OSM in addition to
T&S and Detail windows. In the afternoon I wanted to check
something that happened early in the morning on one of
the 10T charts. So I pressed Ctl and the back arrow key.
But I went back past the earliest data and the chart went
blank. I then tried to return to the current data and with
that all charts stopped and most changed from OK to NO TS.
I closed and reopened eSignal after waiting a few minutes
but the chart still showed NO TS. I shut down that PC and
opend eSignal on 2 other computers. NO TS there too.
Only after about 5 hours was I able to reconnect.

Otherwise all went well with the new server. However, I
decided to cancel the service for now and look forward to
going back to the new server at a later date.

It may be hard to tell, but if you know that this problem was
not related to the new server, would you be so kind as to let
                  me know.

                    Hi Scott!

Can you tell me how many days of historical tick data this server will ultimately hold?

I assume the plan is to let it accumulate data past the current 10 day limit slowly, rather than try to back-load the data in all at once?

                    Thanks,

                    Garth

                        Hey Garth,

Just saw your post today so sorry about the long delay. The tick servers will continue to store 8-10 days, then subsequent requests will come from the new extended history systems. There's been another delay so it doesn't appear that extended history will be available until March/April. We hopefully can get more details to share next month.

                        Thanks.

                              Hi Larry,

On question 1, the 120 days of interval data does not contain b/a data as it's just OHLC on a min of 1 min bars. We currently go back 10 days for tick data and this type of request is what will be much faster if b/a data is removed.

On #2, currently, no, it can only be adjusted by eSignal staff. If we decide to permanently offer this choice, we'd make it available to add/remove in Account Maintenance.

                              Thanks.
