  • Multiple charts: Style templates, refreshing

Relatively new user. Enjoying it so far, and have actually enjoyed tinkering with the EFS editor <g>.

I have a page saved with about 30-50 stocks I monitor on a daily basis. I have been tweaking the basic indicators etc. I use; once I have a set up I like I save that as the default style template.

    1) How can I update the style template for multiple charts? Using [CTRL + Y] works for updating the time template for multiple charts, but doesn't seem to work for style templates.

    2) When I launch eSignal, or when I load the page with multiple signals, about about 25-30 will load with data. The rest will simply be blank. Changing the time frame to anything will 'refresh' the data - but having to do this for multiple charts is a PITA. Is there a way to 'refresh' multiple charts?

    3) rather than saving the page with the charts all opened, it would be easier to save the page with all the charts closed, and open them after loading the page - but opening 30+ charts one by one every time is a PITA. Is there a way to open multiple charts (such as from the quote board?)

This should not be a memory problem (2.8G chip, 4Gb memory). I've searched the forum boards but didn't find anything that helped.

    Thanks in advance!

        Hi surista,

Thank you for the post and I apologize that we have not gotten back to you sooner.

You have the right idea of possibly using a page to open all of the charts however, with most machines 30 plus charts is lot of data being pushed down to the desktop to process at one time. Bandwidth issues could cause much of your data to be dropped long the way.

Style templates are a great way store custom chart properties and add them to other charts. There are no key commands that you can use to update all of your charts at once with an updated style template. I have passed the idea on to the Project Manager for consideration though.

You can open multiple charts at once; the first steps of this would be a bit cumbersome as you would need to first create a folder, then name each of the charts windows and place them in the newly created folder. Once you have them saved you could then from the file Menu Click Open--> Navigate to the newly created folder. On the keyboard click CTRL/ A to highlight all of the charts and click Open. But as previously mentioned this can overload you connection causing dropped records coming back. I would recommand open maybe half of them and then going back for the remaining charts.

        Hopefully this will help you.
