  • How to configure eSignal to auto-scale every chart when starting?

    Hello,

How can I configure eSignal so that when I open a page or starting eSignal, all charts on screen are auto-scaled? Right now if I don't open eSignal for one or a few days or open a page which has not been used for a few days, all charts on that page are not scaled correctly, in most cases bars are drawn in invisible area because the price has changed so much during the period when the page is not used. So I's like to suggest eSignal at least should do auto-scaling once when the page is opened.

    Hi There,

    Thanks for your forums post.

Please right click on your advanced chart window and then select the "Scaling/Autoscale" option.

Please repeat this process for all chart windows and then save your work.

    Kind Regards,

I know this option. The problem is that when I am trading, I need to drag the mouse on y-axis to change the scale. Then the auto-scale is turned off. I usually click "Exit All & Save" to exit esignal. Then next time when I start esignal, all charts are not auto-scaled, therefore I have to auto-scale them one by one. When you have eight big screens and about 20 charts running, this is painful. From the point view of user-friendly, I see no reason not turnning on auto-scale when a page or esignal is started. If a user decides to set the scale manually, it is most likely for that session only and on intraday chart only. Therefore in the next trading day, for most of time, the chart need to be rescaled because the price has changed dramatically overnight and the user's manually setted scale which is saved in page should be discarded.

        Hi Clearwater,

I guess it doesn't matter how many changes you make through out the day is going to depend on what changes you would like to keep. If you have set a page/layout that you use and want to see each day you might want to consider locking the page.

By locking your page you would be able to make the changes you make now, but when you switch pages/layout or close eSignal all the changes would be removed.

To lock your page from the main menu click on Page-->Lock Page

So when you reopen eSignal you page reverts back to what it was when you first opened/locked it.

          AveryH,

Thanks. I will try the page lock feature although I still think by default all charts should be auto-scaled when a page is loaded or esignal is just started.

            Hey Clearpicks,
This is definitely something we can explore. I've sent your suggestion to ideas for their consideration. I included you on the email so you'll get a copy.

In the meantime let me know how the locking page suggestion works out for you.
