    garth,

i guess it depends on what you mean by fully automated. i'm still sitting in front of my machine every day. i don't think it has to be bulletproof to be useful. i'd feel better if it was bulletproof and i want to improve my system as much as possible (there's quite a bit of room for that) but i doubt that i'll ever be technically proficient enough to satisfy the kinds of standards that you're talking about. my first week of trading has shown a lot of quirks in my system but i'm still encouraged by how far i've gotten over the past month.

What a thread! Yo David Loomis! I like your title "RQ Refugee".

Garth really hit the nail on the head in that we did round #1 in getting the trading plugins operable and getting them out there. We didn't know all the features that everyone would want. So, we stick with simpliticy and provided order tickets and displaying various account information.

Now we are starting to receive feedback and are learning what we can do for round two! Based on Arbifox's feedback, we've got a lot of ideas brewing already. His feedback will help us make integrated trading become "fully automatic" trading.

We're currently working on wrapping up the 7.2 release. Due to time constraints, fully automatic trading concept will not be in 7.2. However, after that, we will look into it.

      Everyone keep the feedback coming.

So do I have to pay to use DO syntax?

This is the first I hear of $250 being paid to DO for code use. You mean if I simply want to use the DLL they wrote to interact with IB, I have to license it by paying $250? What up with that?

Mark - Underdog - are you just using the calls from DO or is there more to it. I thought if I have an IB account, and an e-signal account, I am all set.

A little clarification on this from anyone in the know.

Also, thanks for all the feedback. I am keeping track of all this, and as soon as I can I will post some docs in my folder on the file share regarding work in progress.

        Thomas.

You should check with Dynaorder directly for details but basically they started charging for their product this month (as was announced earlier).

I am just using the syntax in the EFS!!!

I will check it out, but I already downloaded everything I need, and it works with the IB client. They wrote a DLL, it was openly available, end of story. Am I wrong here, or is there something I am missing? Will check with DO . . .

Dynastore - any comments, I assume you work for DO.

              arbifox,

We wrote not only DLL and DLL along is not the "whole thing".
The dll (DOTS5.DLL) is only an interface layer between your EFS script and DO Host. DLL without DO Host is useless as it interacts with DO Host (not with IB TWS or anything else).

And the whole system is a commercial software now. You might download Trial version - please check the details at the About menu of DO Host.

During the free usage period (September-November) we issued a "public key" for all who wanted to use software then and now this key is disabled, so what you have is a Trial version. We also warned that this project may be switched to the commercail basis if it will have enough interest and will be successful. It was

If you expect this project to be completely free, I guess you need to write your own layer or find something else. - no offense, I presume.

                as Johnny would say . . .

                "I did not know that!!!"

I am not bitching about the $250, that is perfectly fine in my world. Apologies if I came across like it was rip. I have seen some of the code that was written with it, and it looks like you guys took a lot of care to make sure everything is covered. Good stuff!!!

I knew about the free trial, and I realized it would be turned off, I am juggling many things, I simply forgot. I did not however realize that the DLL interfaced with the DynaOrder Host, even though I often wondered what that Icon is doing on my desk top. Ah-duh!!!

                So the order is:

E-Signal ---> EFS ---> dots5.ddl language calls ---> DO Host ---> IB TWS API Client?

Did I get it right, I know there is docs on this, but I am just stating it here for clarification.

                Thanks Dynastore, appreciate the info.

                T

                  No problemo

The architecture of DO is described at our Web - see Description page, so I guess you just need to take a look there.
The Web also contains upgrades that are released let's say once per week, so you may need to stay tuned, and a link to our user group at Yahoogroups.

The scheme is right (for eSignal). Actually it's more complicated, of course.

To Moderator: I'm quitting this thread - no ads, just an explanation, as required.
