  • Market Profile--Value Area Error

I see perhaps an error in the way eSignal displays the Value Area in Market Profile. The Value Area is the first standard deviation of a day’s range. Or, approximately 68% of the day’s TPO’s. Today’s ES #F is a good example of what appears to be an error. The Value Area displayed (see attached file) shows the low of value at 994.25 and a high at 1000.75 (6.5 points). This seems highly unlikely given the single prints from 995.75 and the many multiple prints above 1000.50. Am I looking at this wrong? It seems to me that the value area should be much higher off the bottom. A Volume Profile eps I use has the value from 997.00 to 1001.50 area.

    radly212,

You are correct. There is a problem with the current implementation of the VA. A fix should be in the next beta.

        Jay,

Just an observation, but the value areas seem to be much more in line when a 24 hour time frame is selected.

Thanks for the additional info. As an FYI, I have seen this VA issue corrected on a developer's machine, so it looks like we are well underway to correcting this. We're likely still weeks away from the next beta, but thought I throw that out there.
