  • PNF Chart Reversal Factor is Half Wrong

My PNF chart is set with a box size of 1 and a reversal factor of 3.

It seems to be correctly using the reversal factor of 3 when an uptrend turns to a downtrend.

But when a downtrend turns to an uptrend, it seems to be using a reversal factor of 5 instead of 3.

    Why would that be?

My understanding is that all O columns would begin 3 boxes below the top of an X column (which they do). And all X columns would begin 3 boxes above the bottom of an O column (which they do not; they begin 5 boxes above instead of 3).

    Any idea why?

    My chart is: PNF(1,3,C,YM U3,1S)

There are two ways to draw Point & Figure. One is to draw in the X's and O's to meet up with the reversed X or O, which creates the pattern you describe. The other method is to draw the X and O where the reversal begins, which is the way eSignal uses. Eventually, we will add a toggle to draw it either way depending on your preference.
