New Beta Version

In using the new Beta Version I have found a continuing problem.
I trade daily and have a need for a better alert system. I have certain stocks that I am watching to enter or exit a trade. Many times I have to leave my desk during the day. I set alerts for my entries and exits and want to have them sent to my cell phone. The alert system in esignal only supports the SMTP host. Most ISP providers do not provide this information or will not. My ISP does not support this so I can not receive emails via my cell phone. This is very inconvienent. I know that DTN IQ and QCharts allow you to enter you address for your cell phone and the email is routed through them to me. It is very easy and allows me to leave my computer. If I am at my computer I do not need a pop up alert because I am watching it. I need the alert while I am away from my computer. Would you please correct this in the Beta Version so we may have a useable alert system.

aakgeo, what type of email program are you using? It should be very easy to get the SMTP host from there, once we know your email program and version.

We are unable to route email through our own servers as spammers routinely exploit open smtp servers for sending their own spam messages.

SMTP servers

Every IP ISP I know of should be able to tell you the name of their SMTP server. As DioLoy mentions, you would need the name of your ISPs SMTP server to use any standard Internet email program. If you look at the ISPs support pages, or give them a call you should be able to get the name of the SMTP server, or check your email program configuration for it.

Before you all answer, please read the question once again.

aakgeo mixes up SMTP with a different kind of service, which enable you to receive messages from a program on a mobile device.


Aakgeo, this is not a service which is standard provided by ISP's. You might want to look for an online service which does something like this. So if you would send an email to [email protected], it would be forwarded to your cellular phone. I have no clue if something like this exists, and what the costs are.

What Qcharts and DTN IQ offer I don't know, I can't find any referrence to the service you talk about.

email to cell phones

Cell phones that can get email should have an internet style email address like: [email protected] . Or else how are you supposed to send email to them? I guess maybe through a cell phone company web site or something, but I wouldn't really call that email to the phone.

He may be talking about a text messaging - and for pagers and cell phones there are usually ways of sending text via email to the device. For example:

[email protected]

So this gets back to being able to set up a valid SMTP connection.

I don't believe any ISP will not give this out - and if yours will not - fire em.
