Can't get Renko charts for intraday

I use Renko charts for some of my trading ideas, and have noticed that I cannot get Renko charts for some stocks while for others it is created fine.

For example:

a renko chart is created just fine on a Daily chart of GE, but paints only 3 bars and stops for any intraday time frames. This is true for QQQ, and any number of stocks such as IBM, MSFT, etc.

However, for indices such as NDX, COMP, INDU, and futures (ES, NQ, YM) the Renko chart is generated for daily AND all intraday time frames.

Any idea as to why the renko module doesn't produce more than a few bars of data for intraday stocks?

Have you tried adjusting the Box Size in the Edit Studies?
The default 2 points are probably out of range for most individual stocks
but not for an Index or the various futures you mention.

What you say sounds right, Alexis. When I bring up GE with the box size of 2 on a daily, I get 10 years displayed in the chart, that's the amount of history we carry on the daily's. When I change the interval to 30 minutes, I get four boxes with a date of 9-20-2002 on the first box. With 60 days of interval data, there were only 4 boxs to be drawn in that time period. When I change the box size setting to .50, I get plenty more boxes in on the 30 min chart, but again only back 60 days.

Yup......thanks guys, that works fine.
It just never occurred to me to set a box size smaller than a buck, but it works.

(should've given more thought to the basic idea of how these things are created).
