Just to share two performance tips for for Windows XP users.
1) Right click on desktop, Properties/Appearance and set the Windows Classic style. Also double-check Control Panel / System Properties / Advanced / Performance Settings / Visual Effects / Custom, and be sure to uncheck all superfluous features.
2) Registry setting: Find out which IRQ your video card uses. Then create the following item in the registry at HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityCont rol and name it IRQ#Priority (make it a DWORD) and set it to the value 1. If your video card uses IRQ 9, it is called IRQ9Priority. This is said to give explicit priority to your video card.
Hope this helps someone. It really does appear to significantly lower graphics intensive CPU.
Don't forget to get rid of extraneous Lines in your Advanced Charts, as well... ;-)
