I'm just wondering how to apply a moving average directly over the volume indicator (instead of seperate).

You have two choices.
The first one is to load the Volume study and then run the VolumeMA.efs provided by eSignal that should be in the Library subfolder of Formulas. Then you can simply click and drag one indicator window on top of the other while keeping the <Shift> key pressed. This will overlay the two studies in a single window.
The second option is to run the attached efs that will plot both volume and MA in the same window. The length of the MA and the symbol for volume can be changed through Edit Studies.
