  • Loading Time of Layout Slowed Down in 7.5

    Hello,

    Since upgrading to 7.5, loading time of layouts has slowed down considerably.
    For example, it now takes 12-13 minutes to load one of layouts I use, compared to 1-2 minutes previously, which has 22 Advanced Charts, 2 Advanced Time & Sale windows, 2 Market Depth windows and 2 Quote windows.

    Data download (512k ADSL) appears not to be an issue as price bars (though not all) and some Moving Avarages are drawn rather quickly.
    Then, the screen freezes and CPU usage increases to 100% for more than 10 minutes.
    Afeter that, PC displays all price bars, MAs, Pivot Prices etc, and CPU usage comes back to a normal level.

    What is the reason for this problem and how can I solve it?

    I have not had this problem. I would recommend you reinstall your previous version and see if that fixes the problem. That is alot of data your pulling for ADSL. Give it a try and post back with your results and we can take it from there.

      Further to your last posting, the situation has been getting worse.
      For example, it took more than 20 minutes to load the page on some occasion, or CPU usage kept indicating 100% and eSignal never responded on other times.

      So, I decided to create a new page of the same layout and found the following.
      (1) When I open a saved Advanced Chart with single symbol, I have no problem.
      (2) When I open a saved Advanced Chart with multiple symbols, CPU usage reaches 100% for at least 4-5 minutes. The chart has 20MA of the main symbol and EFS to display the last price across the chart.

      Given that there are no Advanced Charts with multiple symbols on other layouts, it appears this new feature of 7.5 is causing some problem.

      Do you have any idea how I can solve this?
      Using Advanced Charts with single symbol could be a quick fix, but I like the new feature of multiple symbols.

        Post your PC specs if you can. And another thing that relates to this most often is the fact of just simply resetting all your hardware. This is the case most of the time! And I do not run multiple symbols in one chart unless the additional symbols are in efs format only. Reason being: multiple symbols will saturate your pc. AKA, not do to esignal's fault. It is usually the pc and bandwith!

          AA: Below is my observation when loading the page.
          (1) First 15-20 seconds --> CPU 100% vs ADSL modem 2-5%
          (2) Next 30-40 seconds --> CPU 10-60% vs ADSL modem 10-50%
          (3) After above --> CPU 100% vs ADSL modem 0-1%
          --> ADSL traffic is not a bottleneck.

          BB: When opening a saved Advanced Chart with two symbols on a new layout (no other chart/quote windows), CPU usage still reaches 100% for 2-3 minutes.

          Then, I changed the layout back to the previous setting; i.e. two symbols on 2 Advanced charts --> single symbol on both, with other chart/quote windows exactly the same.
          --> Loading time reduced to the previous level (1.5-2 minutes)

          As you say, multiple symbols appear to saturate my PC. (CPU AMD Athlon 1.67GHz, 512MB RAM, 128MB FX5200 Video Card, defragmentation carried out every 1-2 weeks)

          It is pity that my PC is not powerful enough to handle multiple symbols because I like the feature.

            Try resetting all your pc's hardware! And yes it is a pitty, but thats the way it goes. It is not esignal.
