  • "Display Description" in 7.5

Is there a way to set the default for "Display Description" to OFF? To me, it's just more text that obscures the data on the chart. From what I can tell, I now have to go and manually uncheck "Display Description" on every single chart to get rid of it.

(I view this added text on the chart as negatively as the "Copyright 2003 eSignal" which overrides all data in the lower left corner of all advanced charts. I understand that eSignal needs to protect its property rights, but as a DATA PROVIDER, there must be a better solution than sticking that text where only DATA should go.)

More generally, back to the original question, why does eSignal Development not automatically provide an option to let users globally turn on or off all new features? Anything new like this, no matter wonderful some users may find it, will not appeal to all users, so why shouldn't there always be a user-customizable global option provided?

My issue is that the extended description didn't exist before 7.5. It got added in 7.5 and turned ON by default for ALL charts. I don't see a global option to leave it set OFF, the way it was in 7.4. If you want to maintain the 7.4 behavior, the burden is on you to go turn it off one-by-one for each chart.

Open a new Advanced Chart, right click it, select Edit Studies and uncheck "Display Description". At that point right click the chart again, select Style Templates then Set As Default.
From that point onwards all new charts will have Display Description switched off.
