  • Global Cursor Window going haywire

I am at 7.5. With the Global Cursor Window enabled, the software often has problems knowing what chart's cursor window to display. On it's own, with no activity on the keyboard or with the mouse, it'll often be in a state where it is flipping among the cursor windows of 2 or more charts. It doesn't seem to matter whether Cursor Window Properties are configured to "Show when mouse in chart window" or "Show when chart window is active." If I click on the title bar of a minimized advanced chart window, or the gray background of the eSignal application - so that NO advanced chart is selected - this rapid and very annoying flipping and flopping occurs. Also, when I toggle back to the eSignal application from another Windows application, I find the Global Cursor Window jumping rapidly between the cursor windows of all of my advanced charts.

To me, this is a serious bug. With this problem, the Global Cursor Window feature is for me essentially unusable. Is there a way to deal with this?

Additionally, if I click on my quotes window, the Global Cursor Window continues to take up all the space, but with the area below the title bar greyed out. Shouldn't the Global Cursor Window DISAPPEAR if we choose "Show when chart window is active, and NO chart window is active?

    Tom,

I am able to duplicate this, but I can only get the problem to show up when overlapping charts. For instance, if I have Chart A and Chart B and part of Chart A overlaps on top of Chart B, then I'm able to see the flashing Global Cursor Window, if I hover my mouse over the area in which the two charts are overlapping.

I can't duplicate the other aspects you are reporting. Could you provide a screenshot of your window setup, so we can try to duplicate this?
    Regards,

      Jay,
I absolutely do have overlapping charts, since I find that I usually want to see the X-axis and Y-axis labels (time and price), but that too much of the space under the X-axis is wasted, i.e. not displaying DATA, just background.

I also have minimized advanced chart windows, chart in the layout that I only occasionally open.

You should be also able to reproduce the toggling of the cursor windows this way: minimize the eSignal application, with the layout having advanced charts overlapping top and bottom, left and right. Minimize some chart windows, and leave some blank space underneath them. Return to the eSignal application from Windows, with the mouse in this blank area below the minimized windows. I have such a setup since I reserve some space for my broker's order application, and the BLANK AREA I RESERVE FOR IT IS RIGHT BELOW MY MINIMIZED WINDOWS. That seems to be the key. The global cursor window will then apparently cycle through the cursor windows of the various charts without any other interaction.

The other problem is that the global cursor window never disappears, even if no chart is selected, or the mouse is not on any chart. Is this the design intent, or should the global cursor window disappear when not required? Also, when the mouse is on other parts of the layout background, the global cursor window will continue to take up space, but will be empty.

By "flickering" do you mean that the contents of the global cursor window are changing to correspond to that of the different charts? Because that is what happens, it's not just the same cursor window data over and over.
