  • why do tick charts sometime not build up

I am impressed by the esignal's capability of charting tick graphs. I find however that in particular for the european markets it takes very long to build up a graph. especially the german bund does not display at the opening of the market. Historical information sometimes does not get displayed. Is there a way to speed it up? Normal time related charts displayed with the normal speed.

    Please help

I have the same issue with tick charts for Euro futures (Bund and ESTOX). They take a long time to fill in, and sometimes my indicators do not load properly. If I set to a time chart, eg 2 minutes, everything loads fine.
It is not as much an issue, though it sometimes happens, with the US futures (ES, YM, ZB).

      Same issue?

I believe I have the same problem but it only is affecting my AB #F chart set at 38t. I also have tick charts for the ES, NQ, and YM setup with the same Time Template as the AB..24 hours.
All show up before the regular market hours, except the AB? After regular hours start, AB gradually displays.

If I changed the AB #F to a 1 minute, it shows fine....just tick charts with AB before the market opens do not show.

When I look at the Cursor window it says "OK"? Cntr click on OK and its says receiving, then OK, but nothing shows until the market regular hours start. Weird.

Yes, if I open the charts after regular hours start, AB and the rest show up just fine.

      WhatzUP?

My suggestion is to try and use Time Templates to limit the request to only the data you need. When a Tick Chart is first requested waits until all the requested data is received before displaying the chart. On high volume issues, this can really take a long period of time to access it depending on how much data is requested. If you limit that request to a lower amount then this time will likely be lessened. Here's an example of a Time Template limiting the Tick based charts to 3 days of data.

        Regards,

I was under the impression that for T, V, P, and S that the Time Template didn't work for restricting data. I had a similar issue where I was trying to restrict the amount of data on a T chart and always got 10 days regardless of the settings. Also couldn't restrict start and stop time on an S chart. Did this get fixed?

As far as I have seen at my end the Time Templates have always been able to control the number of days loaded when using T, V, P or S intervals. However they cannot control the Start/End times with any of the intervals mentioned.

              Thanks Jay,

I changed my Time Template from I-Default 000 to 2400 hours to a T Interval with 4 days and no times.

My AB #F now shows up prior to the market regular hours open!

              Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Several weeks back I was working on an EFS for my Tick chart. No matter what setting I used (1 day, 10 day, 500 bars, etc.) I always processed the same number of bars (113,000+). Upon inquiry I was told by others that after testing they came to the same conclusion that the Time Template doesn't work for T, V, P, and S.

                See this thread. http://forum.esignalcentral.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5839&highlight=time+tem plate

If you are still having problems with the Time Templates it could be that the file is corrupted. Try closing eSignal, then renaming the Time Templates.xml file in the eSignal folder and restarting.
You will have to rebuild your Time Templates at that point (but you also still have the original to go back to if nothing changed)
                  Just a suggestion

Still having problems getting tick data charts. Both for CME and Eurex products. Admittedly I have a slower internet connection here, but when it works the charts fill in very quickly. Have now been waiting one hour and charts are not filling with historical tick data.
If I change from a tick bar chart to a time chart (eg 2 minutes) data appears immediately.

I have set up a 3 day time template as described in this thread and no real improvement.

Are there some settings in the data manager?
Can the data actually be stored on my hard disk?
What exactly are the 'historical applications' in the data manager. I try to start the 'tick' application and it will not start.

Please advise of any solutions to this problem.
