  • Forex & Market Depth Window Questions/Suggestions

I'm a forex trader and I just subscribed to the Market Depth feature and I'm trying to figure out a number of things:

    1. Where can I find a list of who the MMIDs are? For instance, I would like to know who "HN" is in the list of market makers (as well as all of the others).

    2. When I add the "#Inside" column, I get a number and a bar next to each MMID. I'm assuming this indicates the size with which they are at that price. What I need to know is what does this number equal? 5 = $5 Million?

    3. The depth meter doesn't seem to work for forex. However, if the "#inside" is giving me an indication of the depth of the market at the bid or the ask, shouldn't the depth meter be based on that? Is there a way to make it based on that for forex?

    4. The top part of the window has "BSize:" and "ASize:" But, with forex it shows "0" the entire time. Is there a way to make these based on the "#inside" data?

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

I can answer a few of these fairly quickly and for the others, we'll have to get back to you tomorrow unless someone else can help out in the meantime.

    HN is Hantec International Limited.

For an explanation of #inside. please see this FAQ.

Here are several other Forex FAQ's that may be of interest.

    Thanks.

To further the discussion, the main reason none of the Size related features of the Market Depth Window are working is that Forex contributors do not send size and volume data. If you look in Time and Sales or on a Quote Window, you will see a similar result. As Forex grows in popularity, there may be a chance that this could change based on demand for this type of data, but until then Forex traders and speculators will have to work around not having size and volume data.
