  • Workstation Feature of the Week

Hello Everyone, welcome to the first installment of Workstation Feature of the week.

With Workstation being a new forum in the Bulletin Board, I thought a good first topic would be the Export/Import of Pages and Windows, which is what will make sharing of workspace components possible.

A workspace is a specialized file that is the backbone of how Workstation organizes user data. It is used to store and organize pages and windows created by the user. A workspace can contain many different types of windows, each with their own properties and characteristics, placed on one or more pages within the workspace.

A workspace uses the .fsw file extension, pages use the .page and windows use the .window extension.

To export a page or window, go to the File drop down menu at the top of Workstation and go to Export. From there you select whether you would like to export the current page or active window. Once selected you will be prompted to give a name to the saved page/window and to choose a location to save it. There is a Export Folder under My FutureSource Workspaces inside My Documents for your convenience.

Once you have a page or window file created, it can be imported in to any workspace on any Workstation Terminal.

To import, the procedure is similar. Go to the File drop down menu at the top of Workstation and go to Import. You are then prompted to select a file. After it is selected, it will be imported and you are ready to begin using the imported page or window. Note however, that the Workstation in which the page/window is imported, must be a subscriber for the respective exchange/enhancement, for data to appear.

If you wish to rename a page or window after it is imported, you may do so by accessing the Page or Window menu at the top of Workstation.

    Workstation Feature of the Week

Welcome to this weeks addition of Workstation Feature of the week.

In recent updates to Workstation we added the capability to turn color printing On/Off. This is very useful if you have a color printer, combined with charts in which you have color backgrounds.

When this setting is turned Off, everything will print with a white background and black foreground. Allowing your charts to be readable when printed with a dark background setting.

This setting is accessed via the Preferences Menu at the top of Workstation.

      Workstation Feature of the Week

Welcome to another additon of Workstation Feature of the week

This week's tip is from a question that was asked to me recently.

The question was: How can I change chart time periods quickly on the keyboard, without using the mouse and the drop down menu?

To do this it is very simple. We use the / (forward slash) as the indicator to change periods on the chart.

So for example, if you wanted to switch your chart to a 15 minute from 5 minute, you would simply hit: /15 "Enter Button" on the keyboard and it will instantly change.

This command also applies to the Data Table.

      Valid commands are:
      • /d - Daily
      • /w - Weekly
      • /m - Monthly
      • /n - n being minutes per bar
      • /t - Tick

This week's addtion follows Charts again.....

For those that may have no use for all those study markers on the price scale from numerous indicators that you may have on your charts, they can de disabled.

With your mouse over the price scale, right click to access the price scale context menu. This menu has addtional options that the chart context menu does not.

From there you can disable those study price markers from flooding your price scale.
