  • Need to use the original livecharts not 2.0

I have used live charts for a long time.

the charts on the new livecharts do not match the old livecharts in a number of important ways:

    1. The spacing between the HLC bars is different. It is very important to the trading system I use to have the bars match the old livecharts. Is this possible?

    2. The 4 colored lines are very convenient for me to use when charting - much more so than clearing the lines using LC 2.0. To clear them using the original you just click the mouse.

    3. The size of the charts - is there a way to have the size of the chart match the old live charts - large and small charts?

    4. How long will I be able to use the old livecharts for? I would gladly pay double not to switch to the new one.

    Please help me with this.
    Thanks

    Bye Bye LiveCharts

New Livecharts isn't nearly as useful as Old Livecharts. Furthermore, since I can't get the eSignal through my employer's firewall I will be terminating my subscription as soon as old Livecharts goes down.

      random,

The bar spacing can be adjusted on the new LiveCharts. Just click and drag your mouse along the X-axis to adjust this spacing.

Regarding the new line method, lines can be removed pretty quickly and more accurately. Left-click a line, press delete on your keyboard. While its true that it doesn't automatically remove earlier lines that are drawn, to some, having no limit on line drawing is of great benefit; as are the new line tools. We all use products differently though, so I can certainly see your side of it as well.

Regarding chart size, the height and width of the chart can be fully adjusted. Just grab the borders in between the different windows and adjust them as needed. Also, the whole applet will resize based on how big or small you make the browser.

        Chrys,

We are working on a HTTP tunneling feature to allow the LiveCharts application to be used on port 80, the native port used to deliver regular web pages. I don't have an ETA on this feature, but it is high on the list.

We also have a new version of the current LiveCharts coming in the next week or so that addresses some of the larger issues like bringing back the US Market Watch list, putting through a workaround for the Portfolio and Hot List pods if cookies are blocked, and other such improvements.

          Thanks for responding Jay.

The issue is that every time I go in there now I will have to resize the chart and re-change the line spacing?

Is there a way to make the settings stick?

It's not intentional. There's a problem with the legacy LiveCharts servers at the moment. Our network operations team is investigating.

                Jay,

It's still down. Still just seeing the Red X.

Please can you or someone else post an answer to the following questions:

                1. How long will the existing (not 2.0) version of livecharts be kept alive?

                2. So I customize the layout (size and number of bars) - this takes time as I need it to be very precise for he way I trade. But there is no way to save this layout in V2.0. Will that feature be added and if so when?

                3. In v2.0 could you add 2 options:
3.1 - the ability to remove all drawing objects with a single click.
3.2 - the ability to copy/clone a line so that it will be parallel?

                Thanks for responding
                Glen

                    Random,

My apologies for the delay in a response.

The legacy LiveCharts will be in place until we are able to fix these high priority items discussed in the forum. One of the ones that may take longer than the others is the former Data Export feature.

The layout can be customized and saved, and this is automatically done upon exiting LiveCharts. However, if cookies are being blocked, then this info can't be saved properly. Please refer to my earlier post about cookies for help hunting that issue down. It's likely something like Norton that is blocking the cookie.

I'll add your line suggestions to our list of things to look into for future enhancement.
                    Regards,
                    Jay F.

Is there a better way to do it other than session cookies?

Can't we have an option to save it to the database?

                      Thanks

                        Hey Jay,

The new version is starting to work better for me now. I figured out how to set the chart size and line spacing to precisely match the old version - thanks for your help with that.

I would like to ask for a feature:

On the Chart window could you add a right mouse menu with an option to remove all drawing objects?

That would save me so much time. The older version was very quick for doing this.

I'll post a new thread for this too.
