First off, thank you to all of you who posted your feedback on this forum or sent it in through the QCIdeas email list. We've been listening and have developed some new features that we are planning to release this week.
New Chart Button: You will soon see a new button on your chart that says “New Chart.” Upon clicking it, this spawns an additional chart window that matches the existing chart’s symbol, interval and settings. You can then move this chart to other monitors for further analysis. Up to 4 additional chart windows can be spawned from the main LiveCharts applet.
Data Export: We have added back the familiar data export feature that many are using each day in their Excel spreadsheets and other financial tracking software packages. Due to some security loopholes, we have changed the output methods of this data export, so that the data is no longer spawned in a browser window. Data will be saved as a downloaded file in the location of your choosing.
Printable Charts: Just as before, you can easily print a copy of the chart you’ve created in LiveCharts. We have enhanced this further by provided two choices, a “Print” command to send the chart straight to your printer and under the Export menu, there’s a way to export an image of the chart for further editing or archiving. The slight change in usability here is again we needed to close a security hole that unapproved 3rd party software applications were using.
Time & Sales Filter: Under the more menu, the Time & Sales filter will make its return. There is a slight change in usability here, you’ll need to select the data you want to appear, whereas the legacy version selected the data you didn’t want to appear.
Enhanced Volume Histogram: The Volume study is now color-coded to reflect up days and down days as well as the default color used for when the Open = Close. These colors can be edited in the same way as other studies, just double-click the volume histogram itself.
Misc. Fixes:
- Daily charts now correctly display the volume of the current day. Previously this data was being counted twice.
- Hot Lists should now be much more consistent. There was a problem with retrieving data consistently from the Hot List servers.
- The System Clock should now continuously update. In certain situations, the status clock would stop updating for no apparent reason, and this has been addressed.
Future Development Tasks: Below is a list of some of the items we are looking at for a future release.
- HTTP Tunneling: Ability for LiveCharts to tunnel through a corporate firewall using port 80, the common port used for web browsing.
- Vertical Grid Labels: These are currently displaying grid markers at odd times
- Moving Average Offset
- Williams %R Smoothing
- Logarithmic scaling
