  • Crash!

wow ... well I had the new LiveCharts running for nearly 1.5 days with no freezeup ... but I had a complete CRASH of my Windows XP computer around 12:50 pm (eastern time) ... i had 5 windows of livecharts running and nothing else ... then suddenly the blue screen of death and an automatic reboot

Did you guys post a new version of live charts on your end ... or reset something ... i have never had a complete crash before.

one note ... before it crashed, it had switched itself over to Port 80

after the crash and reboot ... i was able to log back and and restart live charts ... now it's back to Port 2812

On the disconnect and reconnect, were you running any secondary charts through that sequence?

If so, did the secondary charts reconnect or did they require intervention to restore to working (including restoring data)?

Any chance you shutdown and restarted the secondary charts after the failure?

I'm asking because it is still a problem with secondary charts after any type of session failure. It is the sequencing of those actions that lead to my prior 100% CPU observations and the only BSOD I had as failure (old release of LC2) that I posted. Since that apparantly wasn't fixed or fix isn't working, it might also explain one FREEZE I had yesterday that required a system reboot. I haven't had alot of session failures, but they do still result in chart problems. Had one today in the first hour after market open. Log is saved if you folks at eSignal need it. Here's the Java error:

      java.net.SocketException: Connection reset

Note, I'm still forcing socket 80 with block on 2812 use to bypass 2812 Firewall compatibility problem.

I too had a problem yesterday with the 'blue screen' and an error that read 'page fault in nonpaged area'. The only new release over the last month for any of my stuff was the latest LiveCharts.

On loading in the morning the platform had a problem with the portforlio saying that I needed to login; the page itself was sluggish in that my cursor was non-responsive and that followed to my other open pages, ie Briefing, RealMoney, etc. The HotLists were also blank. The charts were ok but took forever to load - I didn't freeze completely at any point. Some of the symbols in my portfolio duplicated themselves and would not allow me to delete. I should add that I only had the main chart open - no subcharts at all.

I rebooted after the market open thinking that may help and it did. The LiveCharts worked well for the rest of the day with no problems - portforlio worked well along with hotlists and charts. When I shut down after the market close the bluescreen came up with the 'page fault' error and luckily I was able to reboot. I defragged the computer and LiveCharts seems to have loaded properly this morning.

Fingers and eyes crossed that whatever happened won't happen again. Hope this helps the LiveChart Techs figure out what is happening.
