Technical Issues Summary for Xtra Users

On Wed 9/14 and Thursday 9/15, we experienced a series of technical problems with some of the servers that support our FS Xtra product (and all related co-brands). Many users were unable to connect to the service and others were disconnected without notice. While some users did continue to function properly, it's clear that a significant subset of our Xtra users were impacted by these server problems. We temporarily fixed the malfunctioning servers on Wed, only to have a subsequent failure the following day. All Engineering and Network resources were called upon to resolve these issues ASAP. As of Thursday at 11:30 am CT, all servers were reported stable and service was fully operational for all users. Further, we are pleased to report no other server-related issues since Thursday.

We understand how crucial reliability is for all of our customers and we're doing all we can to make sure each and every one of our servers are stable and fully functional going forward. Over the past 6 months, we have added over a dozen new servers and will add additional equipment immediately if that's deemed the proper solution. To specifically address last week's problems, we made two configuration changes to our current server farm to insure that these specific problems will not re-occur.

Insuring reliability and redundancy is a constant ongoing project for our engineering teams and, to that end, our work is nearly complete to migrate off of the legacy FutureSource network and leverage the highly redundant eSignal Network infrastructure, anchored by dual active/active ticker plants located in Massachusetts and California. Since the purchase of FutureSource by Interactive Data Corporation in September of last year, hundreds of hours of work have been poured into a Network Migration project in aim of taking all the strengths of both networks and creating a "best of breed" datafeed offering. Our goal is to convert all back-end delivery systems, servers and data sources to the eSignal Network by Dec 31, 2005.

Your business is very important to us so we want you to know that we are very confdent that we're headed in the right direction and will, in short order, create a complete suite of real-time data services that will rival any and all others available in the world today.

            Thank you,
            Scott Johnson
            VP, Client Services
            FutureSource/eSignal
