  • ContinuumClient.ini Auto Update

For the last week or so what Larry and I refer to as the "broadcast bug" has beeen present. What this means is that the ContinuumClient.ini will never contain more servers than the number present when QCharts is initially started. This "bug" has existed for a long time and every once in awhile someone on the "QCharts End" had to manually give a little "kick" to get things started again. Jay, Mike or Duane may remember what had to be done but it needs to be done again.

As a temporary workaround, the ContinuumClient.ini should initially contain all servers that the user might want to switch to during the session. This can easily be done if you are using QFAI or all desired servers may be manually added by editing the ContinuumClient.ini.

I see that the "broadcast bug" is no longer present so thanks to whoever gave it a "kick". If users are still experiencing the "bug", just shut down and restart QCharts.

    Thanks,

The broadcast bug was/is on the majority of the servers today. And as Bob mentioned, this has been an issue for quite some time. The servers that are downloading a server list are Mia 2, 4, and 14 thru 18. All other servers are not downloading the server list, which includes the entire Santa Clara farm.

This is particularly problematic for new users in that the first time they start with a new QCharts, they start, by install definition, with an empty CC.INI. They will wind up with a short list of servers, the six that are hard-wired in QCharts (continuumclient.DLL). Specifically the SantaClara 1,2,3 and Miami 1,2,3 servers/routers. Regretfully, Santa Clara 1,2,3 servers are missing Daily Bars for last Friday, Apr 28. In addition, Miami 1 is, and has been for weeks, offline and not available. The point is that the initial experience of QCharts may very likely not be, by any means, the best experience. Only if by the luck of the ping they land initially on Mia-2, or knew enough to switch to Mia-2, would they be OK. The foregoing scenario also applies to the folks told by support or otherwise to Delete their CC.INI.

Perhaps during the current transition phase the person assigned to manually run the server list download enable procedure each day has been lost in the shuffle?
